Learn to Defend Yourself: Fit and Fearless Austin Offers Free Ladies Only Self Defense Class Saturday
Austin, TX --- Fit & Fearless, offers a free Ladies Only Self Defense Class featuring Krav Maga, a system of self-defense and hand-to-hand combat developed by the Israeli Army. The class is offered every first Saturday of the month at 11:30am. Attendance is expected to rise, as self defense has become a high priority to women in the Austin area. In the wake of the west campus attacks and the murder of Esme Barrera, January's class had more than 50 women in attendance, excited and ready to learn. The hour long training helps work on gender specific situations to avoid confrontations, or to effectively defend when needed. The class is taught by Fit and Fearless Instructor of Year Parker Westbrook.

The Ladies Only Self Defense Class will:
Teach you to learn how to trust your instincts.
React appropriately.
Defend against nearly any attack.
Avoid an assault entirely by addressing danger early.

A potential victim’s way of carrying herself or reacting to initial confrontation can dictate an attacker’s willingness to follow through with his plans. Don’t be a victim, learn to make your attacker’s job frustratingly, exceedingly and most of all, painfully, difficult.

Whether looking for confidence, the skills to protect yourself and your family, or a way to shed pounds and get into fighting shape, Krav Maga is the fastest, most effective and most enjoyable way to do it.

Visit Fit and Fearless Austin or call 512-441-Krav to learn more about Krav Maga training.

Fit & Fearless Austin is owned and operated by one of six female Krav Maga black belts in the country. The instructors have trained elite units at hundreds of U.S. law enforcement agencies and every branch of the U.S. military. Fit & Fearless will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary in March and has become home to a growing community – an alternative for fitness-minded Austinites seeking a fun, effective way to stay in shape. Members come with a wide variety of goals – to lose weight, to build strength, to improve athletic performance, to learn to defend themselves. They come back because they achieve results, becoming capable of things they never thought possible, in only months. It’s a reflection of the Fit & Fearless mission to promote peace of mind, self-confidence and a more enjoyable, active and productive lifestyle by creating strong minds and bodies. http://www.fitandfearless.com

Austin Variety Show’s 2nd Anniversary Party & World Premiere Bash

For Immediate Release
Austin Variety Show's 2nd Anniversary Party & World Premiere Bash

(rumor has it, Fit and Fearless is part of the show)

Local TV show celebrates two years on local television with two new episodes and live performers at bash Saturday January 28th

Austin, TX - How does gonzo TV show Austin Variety Show celebrate two wild years on local TV? By throwing itself a party with goodies for all the attendees! The Saturday, January 28 bash will feature a lineup of local performers from 8-11pm and the show's first new episodes in over a year, while treating attendees to free food and drinks and giveaways from local businesses.

The premiere gala will be packed with entertainment from local talent like Charlie Hodge (The Charlie Hodge Show podcast) and performances by comedian Ramin Nazer (Just For Laughs Festival, SXSW, Funniest Person In Austin Finalist) and musical guest Mistress Stephanie and Her Melodic Cat, who along with Hodge, join the cast and crew as guest stars of the show's new episodes.

The new episodes of Austin Variety Show are titled "Entervention (Pts 1 & 2)" and continue the show's plotline about the difficulties of creating a local television show. Making matters worse are producer-director-writer-host Troy Dillinger's huge ego and lack of experience. In "Entervention (Pts 1 & 2)", Dillinger's control issues threaten to drive co-host Tom Booker from the show, while radio personality Charlie Hodge attempts to coerce Troy into booking his band "Sweat & Lotion" as a musical guest on the show.

The lineup for the 2nd Anniversary Party & World Premiere Bash is:
8pm - doors open, free beverages, food provided by Rockin' Tomato Pizza
8:30 - event begins w. host Troy Dillinger
8:45 - comedian Ramin Nazer
9pm - Austin Variety Show Episode #14 "Entervention, Pt. 1"
9:45 - special guest Charlie Hodge
10pm - Mistress Stephanie & Her Melodic Cat
10:15 - Austin Variety Show Episode #15 "Entervention, Pt. 2"
11pm - event ends

The event also marks the launch of Austin Variety Show's bid to land on national television in early 2012. "We've been mostly off the radar of Austin culture, but it's time to become an Austin institution," says Dillinger. "We're looking for a home with a major cable network this spring, and the shows we're showing this Saturday will stand up next to anything on cable. There's a large audience that's interested in Austin's deep pool of talent and laid-back lifestyle. We want to bring even more attention to Austin and try to document and preserve what makes this city so special."

The live event and television show, which originated as an Adult Swim fan party in 2005, parted ways with Cartoon Network in late 2008 and re-launched as its own television production in summer of 2009. The Austin Variety Show debuted for Austin viewers January 10, 2010 on local broadcast channel KBVO "My Austin TV", sister station of KXAN and KNVA (who are owned by LIN Broadcasting).

The Austin Variety Show can be seen every Saturday at midnight on KBVO, which is available on "every television set in Austin" on antenna channel 14.1, Time Warner Cable ch. 7 / HD1525, DirecTV ch. 51, Grande ch. 18 / HD818, ATT ch. 7 / HD1007, Dish Network ch. 51 / HD5185, Suddenlink ch. 15 / HD725 & Northland ch. 97

Austin, TX – Fit & Fearless, LLC is offering a Practical Paleo Nutritional Seminar hosted by Diane Sanfilippo of Balanced Bites. Diane is a Holistic & Paleo Nutritionist specializing in blood sugar regulation, food allergies / intolerances and digestive health.

The Practical Paleo Seminar at CrossFit and Fearless is scheduled for Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The cost of attendance is $115 and includes a copy of the Practical Paleo Nutrition Guide eBook (regularly $34) at CrossFit and Fearless Austin, located at 3808 Woodbury Dr., Austin, Texas.

In this full-day nutrition seminar you’ll learn about whole food / Paleo nutrition including:

• Why there is confusion around what’s healthy to eat including common mainstream nutritional myths about fat, cholesterol, whole grains and calcium intake; why we believed them, why they are myths and the real truth about each of them.
• Why digestion and blood sugar regulation are critical pieces of the puzzle when it comes to health and performance: how they work, how to know when they're not working and what to do about it.
• How Neolithic foods such as grains, legumes, dairy and sugar are harmful to our bodies and how to modify our dietary and lifestyle practices to optimize our health from the inside out.
• How our physiology, lifestyle and hormones impact our metabolism and the ability for us to get leaner, stronger and healthier. People often think that food and exercise alone will change their bodies, but you’ll learn what other factors matter most and how to help yourself get on-track in this class.
• How to analyze your own diet records to then plan meals and modify your current approach to diet and exercise if you want to: be healthy, get leaner, gain mass or if you’re looking to manage an autoimmune condition.

• Answers to your burning questions about embarking on a 30-Day Paleo Challenge and a Paleo Lifestyle.
