Level 2 Krav Maga

Level 2 (Yellow Belt Students)

Intermediate-level honing of the fighting skills learned in Krav Maga Level 1. Pick up new punches and kicks, punch defenses with counterattacks, kick defenses, and defenses against chokes, headlocks, and bearhugs. Students who train an average of two to three times per week should expect to complete the curriculum in six months. Krav Maga Level 2 students will participate in an Orange Belt workshop and examination to test into Krav Maga Level 3.

Required gear: Mouthguard, groin protector, 16 oz. gloves, shin guards

 

Curriculum

Movement - Bobbing & weaving; slipping punches; shadowboxing (punches, elbows, kicks, knees)

Punches - Hook punch; uppercut

Kicks - Defensive front kick; side kick; side kick with advance; back kick; back kick with advance; uppercut back kick (short); front kick with advance (fighting and neutral stance)

Combinations - Combinations 1-4; left-right-bob right; left-right-left hook-right elbow; right uppercut-left hook-right cross; side or back kick & hammerfist

Punch defenses - Inside defense with counter v. left punch; inside defense with counter v. left punch using left hand; inside defense with counter v. right punch (2 counters); inside defense with counter v. right punch (1 counter); extended hook punch defense; covering hook punch defense; uppercut defense; 360s with counters

Kick defenses - Outside stabbing defense v. front kick; plucking defense v. low/medium front kick; reflexive defense v. front kick to groin; roving defense v. medium front kick to vertical target; inside defense v. high front kick; defense v. low round kick (check with shin); defense v. front kick (redirection); stop kick defense v. front kick

Fall breaks - Back fall breaks; side fall breaks

Choke defenses - Choke from the front against the wall; choke from behind against the wall; choke from behind with a pull; headlock from behind (bar arm & carotid)

Bear hugs - Bear hug from the front arms free with space; bear hug from the front arms free with no space; bear hug from the front arms caught with space; bear hug from the front with arms caught with no space; bear hug from behind with arms free; bear hug from behind with arms caught with space; bear hug from behind with arms caught with no space

Groundwork - Mounted, buck-trap-roll; maintaining the mount; choke defense while mounted; headlock or close choke while mounted; kicking off from guard; stripping foot grab; spinning outward from foot grab (round kick); spinning inward from foot grab (heel kick)

Wrist releases - 2 attackers pulling arms to either side; 2 attackers pulling arms with 1 attacker approaching
