Health Benefits of Red Wine and Alcohol in General
This article discusses the benefits of moderate red wine consumption on a daily basis.
Yes it's no secret, red wine in moderation is actually very good for you! What do I mean by moderation you ask? Well that depends on your size of course. The average person would benefit from no more than a 6 oz glass of wine each night. If you are a bit larger in stature, like myself, 10-12 oz of wine per night may be beneficial.
So why is wine good for you?
Read on....
Two things:
The first being Resveratol, a phytoalexin found in red grape skin and grape seeds. So white wine won't give you quite the same effect although it still contains some amount of resveratol. Resveratol has been shown to have anti-cancer fighting properties as well as life extending and heart health properties. A reduced risk of heart attacks has been shown in people between the ages of 30-50 while drinking 1-2 glasses of red wine per day.
The second being Alcohol itself. "Every study around the world tells us the same thing: Drinking alcohol in moderation is good for you. Those who drink the least and those who drink the most have the worst health profiles, but those who drink in moderation can lower their risk for heart disease, stroke, and cancer."~Fred Pescatore, M.D.
