Hey All,

Had my first class today, wow! I will definitely be back. That was great!

Got a question for you all, can someone explain the Belt Tests and how things are structured?

Also, in class today, I noticed that about half of the students were not wearing shoes, is this better?

Thanks

Hi, Brian. The belt tests are usually all-day affairs. The first half of the test is a "seminar", which anyone may attend. Every technique technique to be tested will be taught & practiced. If you are testing that day & have any questions, that is the time to ask. You may not ask questions about the techniques during the test. There will be a short lunch break & the test will commence. Warmup, stance & movement, and every technique. You and your partner will perform the technique non-stop until you are given the next technique.

To test, you must have a "permission to test" form signed by an instructor, plus sign up & pay, all in advance.

Regarding barefoot training, this is a personal choice. Many people are more comfortable training barefoot, but you are in danger of accidentally being stepped on, of course. Welcome to Fit and Fearless, Brian, we're glad you're here!

Regarding shoes: Consideration should be given to what you might likely be wearing if you are ever called upon to use your new skills. For most people, the likelihood is that they would be wearing shoes in most instances. Therefore, it makes more sense to practice with your shoes on. All other things being equal, training as close to reality is preferred.
