Krav Maga Long Gun Seminar

Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
$39.99

In this seminar, you will learn to defend against long guns such as shotguns and rifles. The last hour will be dedicated to active law enforcement only.

The purpose of the Krav Maga Defensive Tactics System is to teach the trainee how to effectively deal with situations where deadly force is used against them and an immediate response is required. This is an integrated and comprehensive system that teaches you how to recognize danger at the earliest possible moment and to react with the appropriate level of force with little or no hesitation.

Learn to defend against assailants using personal body weapons (strikes, kicks, etc.), blunt objects, edged weapons, and handguns or rifles, including when the assailant takes you to the ground.

Defensive Tactics Involving Threats w/Shotgun/Rifle/SMG

While handguns offer difficulty because they are easily concealed, long guns and submachine guns also represent a clear and serious danger. Krav Maga teaches defensive tactics against threats with both long guns such as shotguns and AK-47s, and shorter weapons such as the MP-5 and AR-i 5. Because Krav Maga is an integrated system, these techniques build directly off of defenses against handguns. Techniques against one type of firearm blend easily into techniques against the other, reducing training time in class and reaction time in the street.

Physical and Sexual Assault Prevention - Self Defense for Women - Krav Maga Seminar

Krav Maga provides a safe, supportive environment for learning how to protect yourself.

You will learn how to trust your instincts. To react appropriately. To defend against nearly any attack. Krav Maga will also teach you how avoid an assault entirely by addressing danger early. A potential victim’s way of carrying herself or reacting to initial confrontation can dictate an attacker’s willingness to follow through with his plans. Don’t be a victim!

Learn to spot danger signs and how to defend yourself when no danger signs are given. This program teaches you how to defend yourself against common chokes, grabs, bearhugs, and other attacks, including fighting on the ground and when confronted by a weapon. We emphasize realistic scenarios and realistic defenses!

Women are taught how to safely and effectively fend off an attacker with punches, elbows, knees, and kicks. More importantly, women learn how to defend themselves from worst case scenarios, i.e. when they are already in a choke, bearhug, and headlock whether standing up or on the ground.

Fit & Fearless is owned and operated by one of six female Krav Maga black belts in the country. Our instructors have trained elite units at hundreds of U.S. law enforcement agencies and every branch of the U.S. military.

The Newness Factor

Beginning students often feel nervous just coming to class. This is normal - after all you're in a strange place doing strange things with strangers. Newbies, please know that everyone feels this way from time to time! Click on this link to see a brief and very interesting blog entry on this subject by John Whitman. John, who will be teaching at the Reality Strikes seminar in April, is one of the highest ranked (and most highly regarded) Kravists in the country. Heath once told me I would be 20% better just by breathing John's air. He was right. But click the link and see what happens when what's old becomes new:

$49.99 Early bird - through 3/14/10
$69.99 after 3/14/10

"Never, ever, ever delegate responsibility for your own safety."Rory Miller

It is better to avoid than to run; better to run than to de-escalate; better to de-escalate than to fight; better to fight than to die. the very essence of self-defense is a thin list of things that might get you out alive when you are already screwed.- From “Meditations on Violence”

In this seminar, there will be a combination of physical and mental practice, lectures and physical training.

In addition to Krav Maga fighting skills, we will cover:

1.

The legal and ethical aspects of force
2.

Violence and crime dynamics
3. Avoidance and de-escalation
4. Conditioned response to ambushes
5. Breaking the freeze
6. The fight itself
7. The medical, legal and emotional aftermath

John Whitman is a 4th-degree black belt and defensive tactics instructor in Krav Maga, the official hand-to-hand combat system of the Israeli military, has trained in protective services and defensive tactics in both the United States and in Israel, and has served as an instructor of U.S. law enforcement agencies and military anti-terrorist units. John has trained most of the Certified Krav Maga Instructors in the United States.

John served as President of Krav Maga WorldWide, and Founder of the Krav Maga Alliance; and is the author of numerous books and projects, including the "Complete Krav Maga".

Rory Miller teaches people who have already trained in martial arts how to apply their skills to real conflict.

Teaching officers- people who might need it- the simple, practical skills they need to stay alive or the equally simple and practical skills they need to restrain a threat without getting hurt.

Rory Miller has been studying martial arts since 1981. Though he started in competitive martial sports, earning college varsities in judo and fencing, he found his martial “home” in the early Tokugawa-era battlefield system of Sosuishi-ryu kumi uchi (jujutsu). He is a veteran corrections officer and with hundreds of unarmed encounters has thoroughly examined the gulf that exists between training and application.

In addition to jujutsu and self-defense, Sgt. Miller teaches and designs courses in Use of Force policy and decision making; Police Defensive Tactics; Confrontational Simulations; and leads and trains his agency’s Corrections Tactical Team.

Bar Fought!

Our long awaited bar fight seminar was held last night & it was awesome! We fought in the bar, we fought upstairs, we fought in the alley. I finally got my chance to slam Ron Grobman's head into a bar. It was so much fun!

2 best moments for me: 1 - Looking down on the action from upstairs & being immediately reminded of a huge saloon brawl in an old western movie. 2 - Groundfighting on the sticky filthy concrete floor of the bar. I've told my students in class how important it is to stay off the ground, that its painful to fight on concrete. Now I KNOW. It's painful to fight on concrete, y'all! Stay on your feet!

Pics and video will be up on the site as soon as they become available.

Many, many thanks to Wayne and Kersten for throwing such a fun and illuminating ball/brawl. We can't wait to do it again!
