About Krav Maga

Austin Martial Arts
Krav Maga is a system of self-defense and hand-to-hand combat developed by the Israeli Army. The central purpose of Krav Maga is survival at any cost. Pronounced "Krahv Ma-gah", it means "contact combat" in Hebrew.

There is no pageantry. There are no rituals. It is a practical, no-nonsense approach to self-defense, aimed at preparing you to defend against threats and attacks from armed and unarmed assailants. Krav Maga will train you to recognize danger at the earliest possible moment and react with the appropriate level of force – with little or no hesitation.

Though still somewhat new to the United States, Krav Maga is quickly expanding, with studios popping up in all major cities. Members include men and women of all ages and walks of life. Krav Maga has also been widely endorsed and adopted by the U.S military, as well as federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Newcomers and experienced fighters alike are drawn by Krav Maga’s unique advantages:
  • Fast Results
  • Trainees attain a high level of proficiency in a relatively short period of time
  • High Skill Retention
  • Because the system is based on common principles and natural, instinctive movements, trainees retain Krav Maga techniques with minimal review and practice.

  • Holistic Approach
  • Training styles and methods unique to the Krav Maga system provide reality-based training designed to improve both the trainee’s physical and emotional response to danger.
